A Center in the Washington D.C. area had a successful Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) re-accreditation survey on December 11th and 12th.

Preparing for an Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) accreditation survey requires leadership and team work. We are so proud of this team in Pennsylvania! They passed with flying colors and had very positive comments from the surveyors! The survey team especially noted that there was seamless teamwork between hospital and Comprehensive staff. Great job everyone!
On October 31, 2014 the CDC released a video on how to properly don and dof PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for proper precautions treating patients with Ebola. This brief training video can be vital in preventing further outbreak.
On October 25, 2014 Karin Roemers-Kleven, RN, CWS, FACCWS was a speaker at the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) Northeast Chapter Meeting. The conference was attended by close to 250 hyperbaric physicians, nurses and technologists. She talked about Ebola and hospital acquired infections (including MRSA, VRE, Pseudomonas and Clostridium Deficile) and the need for infection control methods in the hyperbaric environment to prevent transmission.

Comprehensive Healthcare prepares hyperbaric teams to go through the accreditation survey conducted by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). Comprehensive congratulates this Chicago-area team on passing their survey with flying colors! The final report is due in December 2014.
During Comprehensive Healthcare’s national call with all sites we discussed how diseases caused by multiple drug resistant organisms requires us to evaluate our infection control practices constantly and teach healthcare workers, caregivers and patients how to prevent cross infection. Now with Enterovirus D68 and Ebola we need to be on extra alert!
Gloria Miller, CPC, CPMA, CPPM is lending her revenue cycle management expertise to the QUARC group of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). QUARC stands for the Quality Utilization and Reimbursement Committee which is jointly led by Caroline Fife, MD and Helen Gelly, MD. The committee is working on setting quality and reimbursement standards in hyperbaric medicine.
